What Is Forestry Mulching?
Forestry mulching is an efficient method of removing vegetation remnants after a clear fell, thinning operation or as part of site preparation for a new forestry site. Once timber has been removed and brash recovered the remaining branches can be mulched to better prepare the site for restocking.
The need for bringing in numerous types of machines is eliminated as our low ground pressure excavators and mulchers can be equipped with various mulching units and can handle the entire project solely. Our industry-leading low ground pressure machinery will mulch, cut and grind forest residue, re-generated trees and stumps leaving behind a clean and tidy site on completion. This layer of organic material is left to break down and be reintroduced into the soil, making it an ideal growing medium.
Furthermore, as a result of forestry mulching, the biodegradable top-layer (mulch) becomes a natural protection and encourages native plant growth.
The Magic of Low Ground Pressure Mulching
In the modern-day world of environmental land clearance, low ground pressure machinery plays an integral part. Low ground pressure machinery works by preserving the integrity of the terrain. With an increased footprint and greatly reduced ground pressure (PSI) our machines travel over boggy ground with minimise disturbance to the surface.
In comparison to traditional equipment, which is heavy and often on small undercarriages often causing unnecessary damage to the ground, low ground pressure mulching is much more environmentally friendly.
Our industry-leading low ground pressure machinery has the ability to navigate a number of different terrains throughout the UK. Whether it’s to clear for redevelopment or other purposes, we are here to help every step of the way. For example, we have worked to provide forestry mulching on densely vegetated areas, moorland, woodlands, forestry and peatland sites.
